Snow!!

So you think you have had heavy snow...

my house is in there somewhere.

My English spelling was corrected today by a frenchman. yeah.
new low?

apparently fourty is not a number, it's 'forty'

They are realising that not only can I not speak French but that English isn't exactly my strong point either.

stupidenglishspelling.

Oh, and I am joking about the snow. there is rien here, nada.

have a happy monday.

Moderation is a fatal thing, nothing succeeds like excess.

This video didnt quite work when I uploaded it, but you get the gist.

A picture paints a thousand words.

Thanks to a university essay deadline, this pretty much sums up life this week:

When the French swear do they say 'pardon my English'?

Do you remember the days when 'je suis fatigué' and 'je suis en retard' would make you and your entire French class laugh hysterically? It still does?
Over here my little six year olds find the letter 'p' funny. "'p' like 'pipi'?!" they ask. (Wee). I have also had a week of my classes guessing that 'teacher' is English for 'T-Shirt' and that 'Goldfish' is English for 'garçon' (boy)... well there are a number of similarities in character.

Edgy-og (hedgehog) and nesquick (next week) are just a couple of hilarious mispronunciations I have heard this week. The kids make me smile a lot with their cute French accents.

My own personal pronunciation problemos

To lower your hands (hands down) in french uses the verb 'baisser' ('s' sound).
This is NOT to be confused with the verb 'baiser' ('z' sound) which means a whole different thing... The 'f' word.

I'm actually refraining from ever using 'hands down' just in case I accidentally tell a class full of children to 'baiser' their hands. Not cool.

Oh and the word for seal is 'phoque'... so do not be alarmed if small children yell this.

le poisson rouge.

oOhhhooo the excitement, I get to start a new topic tomorrow in my Tuesday school... Thank goodness, I have been singing the alphabet for weeks on end.
New topic = new funsies for me, I have been making animal masks, my favourite is the 'Goldfish'...

sorry about the quality of the pic, I had to take it on my webcam due to the recent theft-of-all-my-valuables saga.

Rain and another complain.

So I'm sat here feeling a little lonely watching the rain POUR down as it has done all week. I might as well put on the song 'all by myself' to complete my mood.

The French take today as yet another public holiday. yey for that! I was invited to someone's house for lunch, a couple from my church said they would pick me up because they were invited too, I gave them all my contact details and everything. I thought, yes! Things are finally improving, I get to meet people and talk! But hey, nobody has called, emailed or come to pick me up. boo :(.

So, after waiting for ages I'm going to get on with some Uni work instead.

And yes, I'm sorry this is yet another moan.

Titles are overrated.

So, my parents and brother actually made it out to France for the weekend, I didn't think it was ever going to happen due to the strikes, it was so good to see them. It meant I got to play the tourist too and it was fun to visit a bit of the Dordogne.

Also, thanks to my visitors I now have a shiny new laptop and my big winter coat. I have epically awful internet connection at the moment though- computery people could that be related to my new laptop?

Teaching is going fine, the kids still come out with things like, when asked how old they are, "my name is eight" and "I'm mould". Oh, and a lot of the small ones only seem to be able to say their name is Chloe because they repeat exactly what I say :)

Have a picture of shower slug...

All the leaves around my little house are falling...

Can somebody remove the slug from my shower please.

There is a massive slug in my shower. The worst part is that I attempted to pick it up and it fell and now I can't find it.

But perhaps I should talk about less trivial matters

I'm hoping my parents will finally be able to come and visit and bring me a laptop, although their flights may well get cancelled again due to the strike. I reached this 'ok I have had enough and want to go home now' point, which had to pass quickly becuase I cannot get home and my parents cannot get out here- you'd think I was a million miles away from home or something!

I start back teaching on thursday which I'm kind of looking forward to because I have been a bit lonely recently with only my own company ( oh and the slug, but he is not especially talkative). I have been occupying my time by making animal masks so my classes can act out a story book I have bought, 'brown bear brown bear, what do you see?'. I decided not to do a Bonfire night lesson, given the fact that my kids can't yet even say 'my name is' I decided that even a brief history of the monarchy and catholic uprisings would be just a little beyond them. Also, burning a figure of a man on a fire is just a bit weird n'est-ce pas?
